Thankful Hearts

Week 2 Focus: The Five Senses

Today, I am thankful for … the sense of SIGHT.

God saw what he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning- the sixth day. Genesis 1:31

I am a very visual person and I can say there are few days that go by that i don't look outside and appreciate (to some degree) God’s handiwork. One of the things I rarely think of is the beauty of the morning which turns to evening which turns to night. Genesis 1 contains all the information about all that was created by God. The heavens and earth, water, sky, stars, vegetation… and EVERYTHING! When he was done creating, he admired his work and saw that it was good! My God given eyesight allows me to see all of this creation. I’m sitting here right now watching the day turn to evening in that same sky God created so long ago. I know in a short while I will see stars pop out - the same ones he created in the beginning. In a world full of sin and sinners I have the privilege of looking at what God considers good.

What I see now makes me feel hopeful. God never changes. His sky evolves in the same way each day since the day he created it. He has been faithful to make it all work since the beginning. What a blessing we have each day to experience something very good with the God given gift of eyesight.

What are some other things you are thankful your eyesight allows you to experience?

Exploring Scripture: Genesis 9:12-17; Psalm 8; Romans 1:20

Heavenly Father,

What a privilege it is to thank you for our eyesight. Our sight allows us to see your faithfulness play out daily. In a world where it is so easy to see what is wrong, please give us the eyes to see what is right! Every gift you give is good and right and for that we are thankful. Amen
