Remembering God's Provision
God invites us to be whole-hearted humans.
“Why would you bother with puny, mortal man or care about human beings? Yet what honor you have given to men, created only a little lower than Elohim, crowned with glory and magnificence. You have delegated them rulership over all you have made, with everything under their authority, placing earth itself under the feet of your image-bearers.” Psalm 8:4-6 (TPT)
“There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth: A right time for birth and another for death, a right time to plan and another to reap, a right time to kill and another to heal, a right time to destroy and another to construct, a right time to cry and another to laugh, a right time to lament and another to cheer, a right time to make love and another to abstain, a right time to search and another to count your losses, a right time to hold on and another to let go, a right time to rip out and another to speak up, a right time to love and another to hate, a right time to wage war and another to make peace.”
God created humanity with layers and layers of intricacies. We were made in His image and that makes us special among all His beautiful creation. It seems we have been so trained to ignore the beauty of our creation for the simplicity of sin management. You and I were created with emotion and personality. We have dreams, desires, and visions. Created by a “3 in 1” God, we seek relationship and community even with its difficulties. We have human bodies that experience a myriad of feelings.
We might be missing out on the invitation to enjoy our humanity because we are so determined to whip ourselves into shape. We look at the state of our world and buy the lie that we could be better, happier, more secure if we could just do better. So, we stuff the emotion, shame the feeling, and force ourselves to move on.
What if by refusing to pay attention to our humanity, we have missed out on invitations to live fully alive?
I wish we were all sitting together today. I would love to lead us through an activity together. I’m going to settle for a virtual activity. I hope you’ll take some minutes to really sit with this today. Sister, you are God’s prized creation. You have been made in His image. We get to experience the fullness of our God in our own being.
As you get started today, grab a journal and pen. Make sure you can see a clock or use your phone timer. I’ll share 4 questions with you. Write the question in your journal and then spend 2 minutes writing everything that comes to mind. Don’t edit. Write out all of your thoughts as quickly as they come to your mind. Consider the past 2 to 4 weeks as you answer the following the questions.
1. What have been your dominant feelings?
2. What have been your dominant thoughts?
3. What have been your dominant desires?
4. How has your body been?
After two minutes with each of these questions, set the timer for 2 minutes again and read over your answers looking for themes or surprises.
Based on what you found, answer this questions….. WHERE ARE YOU?
Now, considering every moment of your time with God today, what do you think He’s inviting you tp? Take your time and journal any thoughts.
There is a time for everything, and God created us to experience all within its time. In order to live fully alive, we must wake up and pay attention to the invitations we experience within our boides. They are part of God’s provision.
Our Father, we have chosen to spend some time remembering You, Your care, Your instruction, and Your invitations. Where would we be without You? When we take time to pause and remember who You are to us, what You’ve done for us, and how You’re always inviting us into more, we can’t help but give thanks. Keep on caring, teaching, and inviting, because we don’t want to miss out on abundant life with You. Since You are always giving, we promise to remember. Amen.
