Jesus: Eternal King
Focus: Jesus has always existed, even before creation.
Today’s verses:
Psalm 102:12 But you, O Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations.
Jeremiah 10:10 But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.
Revelation 5:13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea and all that is in them, singing: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
Post/Question: I am excited to walk this journey alongside of you as we march with Jesus all the way to the cross. You will notice each day there will be multiple verses written out for you to meditate on and journal with. Our posts will be shorter than usual and our intention is to pose a question each day. Our hope is that you will choose to discuss your answer in the comment section. This is a group where we learn from one another and how better than to read every comment! Who’s ready?
Have you ever put any thought into when Jesus “began”? A Biblical truth to keep in mind is the concept of the Godhead: Father, Son, and Spirit… the THREE in ONE. Each one of these members of the Trinity fulfills a specific role but they all interrelate. In short, The Father creates the plan, Jesus implements the plan, and the Spirit administers the plan. They all are equal in power and divine attributes, and are ONE God in three persons. So hard to really understand.
To start with our question for the day, what are your thoughts concerning the eternal nature of Jesus? It’s not always in the forefront of my mind that Jesus began before creation. I tend to think of His beginning in that manger. Simply put, Jesus was, is, and always will be. A difficult concept for me to wrap my little human mind around . Please feel free to share your thoughts on this.
Heavenly and Gracious Father,
What a whirl wind it can be when we think of who You really are and how long You have been and will continue to be. Help us to gain something new during this study. Grow us deeper each day as we take this journey. As we walk with You a little closer to that cross each day, help us to fully understand the Gift that has been so freely given and undeserved. Amen
