Then Mary took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. John 12:3
What a beautiful ending to a beautiful journey of prayer! Throughout each of our days, we've taken our requests to the Lord. I have no doubt that He's answered some of our "asks" in powerful ways. I also know that there are some requests that sit seemingly unanswered. Others may have already received a "no."
And, yet, the beauty of the 40 day journey isn't the prayers answered exactly like we wanted them to be answered. The beauty lies in the One who we've spent every moment of the 40 days with. When we become more centered on Him and His way, we are transformed.
I absolutely love Psalm 63. It is my quiet time reading during a lot of mornings, because I love the psalmist's focus on God's worth. Regardless of what we can SEE that He has done for us, I know that we're coming out of this journey knowing Jesus a little more clearly and when we see Him more clearly, we can't help but worship Him more freely.
Let's d0 that today. As Chris requested, let's write out some of the things we've seen God do, ways He's answered us. Let's read through Psalm 63: 1-8 slowly with praise and worship to our Great Rescuer. I'm attaching a song that I pray ushers you into the beauty of WHO God is. He (not the things we've been praying for) is our very great reward!
Dear Lord, We have seen Jacob wrestle with You, Hannah plead with You, Jehoshaphat seek You, and Paul and Silas sing to You. We have witnessed Jabez's heart and the hemorrhaging woman's faith. We have learned from Ruth's expectant hope, and the leper's joyful thanksgiving. We have seen Elijah raise his voice up and then You send holy fire down. You have given us a prayer of blessing and You have taught us, as Your disciples, how to pray. So, Lord Jesus, like Mary, we are now at Your feet, thanking You with a full heart. May our journey of prayerful communion with You continue well after these forty days. Amen. (Chris' prayer to close out our study was too good not to share.)
