Journey of Prayer

Day 39

February 25

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm145:18

I love how Chris shared yesterday the women and men of the Bible who were examples of mighty prayer warriors. It grew my faith in a new way to think that the God who heard the prayers of Moses and Hannah is the same God who hears my prayers.

Today, Chris took a look at some quotes and thoughts of several faith leaders of the present time. It was wonderful to see these words all put together in one day.

I think the one she shared that resonated with me the most was the quote by Corrie ten Boom, “Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?”. WOW, that really made me stop and think. Yes, I want my prayer life to be the mechanism that directs my journey. I don’t want it to be something I simply fall back on when there’s an emergency along the way.

Chris also quoted Mark Batterson, one of my favorite faith leaders in the modern world. Chris shared a great quote from Mark, “The greatest tragedy in life is the prayers that go unanswered because the go unasked.” I love that one too, Chris Baxter.

But, with your permission, I’d like to share my favorite quote from Mark. “God is great not just because nothing is too big for Him. God is great because nothing is too small for Him, either.”

Ladies, over these past 39 days, we have taken a journey to grow closer to our Creator through our prayer life. We’ve focused on walking with Him and talking with Him about people in our lives, circumstances we are facing, and the desires of our heart. And, if you’re like me, most of the prayers I’ve written down and meditated on are the big prayers. They are the BOLD prayers that we have to turn over to Him because we know that without Him nothing will change.

But I want to wrap up my last day of writing for this study reflecting on Mark’s quote above. I want to remind you that you can come to your Heavenly Father with the little thing as well! He won’t judge us with a “How dare you come to me with that!” type of response. If it’s something on your mind, something on your heart, no matter how minute it may seem…it matters to our Maker. Isn’t that incredible?

They say love is in the details…so, Sister, don’t hold back sharing the details of your life in your conversations with your Father. He loves you! And, just like He knows all the hairs on your head, He knows all those desires of your heart – BIG and small. And one of the reasons that He’s so great is because He cares about them all.

Dear Lord, thank you for the modern day faith leaders. It can be challenging to speak out for You, God, in this world today. Help us all be brave in sharing our thoughts of You with others. Lord, I praise Your name because You ARE the Attentive One. Thank you for loving us so much that you care just as much about the little, seemingly insignificant details of our life as much as you do the BIG things. In Jesus’ name and for the Father’s glory. Amen
