Journey of Prayer - Day 25

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

1 John 1:9-10

I’m going to encourage you to carefully work through pages 53 and 54 in our Prayer Journal. With my whole heart, I believe that repentance is the key to revival. If we want to see revival in our land, we’ve got to repent within our hearts. Each one of us has repentance that we can do.

That’s not really a fun paragraph is it? I find that most of us believers would much prefer pointing out the sins of others rather than being honest about our own. But, 2 Chronicles 7:14 is clear, God calls His people (each and every one) to confess and repent from our own individual sin. When we do, we open the door to more of Jesus’ guidance and instruction. More of Jesus is the way of revival.

Over the past two weeks, God has really been uncovering places in my own sinful heart that need to be healed. The first step toward healing, though, is confession. Rather than write out all of the personal things God has been teaching me, I decided to include a sermon on prayer. In this sermon, the message isn’t specifically prayer and revival. The focus is more about prayer and humility. I found it to be very helpful in leading me to humbly ask God to uncover the places within me that need to be healed.

I’m praying this is a sweet addition to your weekend. It has blessed my heart multiple times.

For further reading: 2 Chronicles 7:14; Isaiah 1:18; Micah 7:18-19; Acts 3:19

Righteous God, You are the only One that is good, faithful, just, and righteous. Teach us to lean on You for that. Forgive us for every place that we lack humility that leads to repentance and revival. Forgive us for every time that we try to achieve righteousness for ourselves, our families, our churches, or our communities by ourselves and for ourselves. Today, I pray that You’ll open our eyes so that we all see our personal sin clearly; but, not in a way that makes us feel ashamed and unworthy. Guard us from that! The moment we see the yuck of our hearts, allow us to fully see the goodness and forgiveness You possess for us. You are our rescue, and I’m asking that You help us to receive it.
