Journey of Prayer - Day 17
Tuesday, January 26, 2021
“For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the Lord.” And he worshipped the Lord there. 1 Samuel 1:27-28

Let’s praise like Hannah! That’s what we are called to do next on our prayer journey. Yesterday we focused on praying like Hannah and today it’s praising like Hannah. I am thankful God gave us a role model who showed us how to not only pray fervently, but to praise him wholeheartedly.
I find Hannah’s story so inspiring knowing God heard Hannah’s prayers and lifted her up. She responds by thanking God for what he did and proclaiming his name out loud. What a great reminder because I may be quick to ask for God to respond to a prayer request, but am I just as quick to give praise to him for his answered prayers and blessings? Also, the thought of how Hannah worshiped and praised God out loud for his goodness made me stop and think about how we need to be still and thank God for specific answered prayers but we also need to share our praises wholeheartedly by calling out to him during our alone time and when we are with others. Our testimonies of how God is working in our lives could encourage and strengthen others.
In Psalm 40:10 David says, “I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation.” God had helped him and he told others about it. And likewise, we need to make it known how great God is. Just like Hannah did.
Today we are called to not only pray fervently, but also praise exaltingly. Journal, talk, sing, worship how the Lord leads. Do everything to glorify our Savior who abundantly gives favor and blessings…just ask him!
Dear Exalted One,
Thank you for giving us examples of how to pray and praise. The more we praise the bigger our faith grows. Hear us, oh Lord, as we sing praises to you and let others know of your goodness.
“Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.”
In your son’s name we pray. Amen
