Journey of Prayer - Day 12

Tuesday, January 19, 2021

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to Him and asked Him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of You.” And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you? And they said to Him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking…”. Mark 10:35-38

(For the full story, please read Mark 10:32-45.)

God asked James and John a very important question. Today he is asking that same question to each one of us. Don’t take it with a grain of salt. Seriously, stop and think about it. God wants to hear from you. What is it that you want Him to do for you? Be in prayer about your desires. This is BIG. Why? Because when you pray for your heart’s desire to be God’s desires you should trust that God hears. He wants you to ASK Him for your deep, sincere longing. And He wants you to trust that he knows exactly what to give, how to give and when to give it. JUST ASK!!

Here’s what I love about this lesson….our Wise and Good Father not only wants to give you what’s right and good but he is also "able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think." Everything we could ask concerning his will, he is able to do far beyond that. Do not be afraid to put your request out there for him. Do not doubt that he hears or is capable of doing anything we ask. TRUST IN THIS….Whatever we might contemplate but hesitate to ask, he is able to do that and so much more.

All Wise God,

I worship you as the one who knows all and is able to do all things well. Forgive me for repeatedly turning to my control and ability. As I seek you in your word, build my faith. I want my heart’s desires to be yours and my longings to be offered up to you with pure motives. Let the power of the Holy Spirit make me what you want me to be.

Through Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
