ACTS: A Way to Pray

Isaiah 55: 6-11

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but is shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

A Prayer using the above Scripture and ACTS

Adoration:

Dear Heavenly Father, I praise you as the Wise One. You are the all-knowing God who whose thoughts and ways are always right and good.

Confession:

I confess that I sometimes rely on my own thoughts and accomplish my own plans rather than yours. In all honesty, I may even get so busy that I forget to seek you first. I do not always acknowledge you and look for you to direct my paths. I know that is not right. Please, please forgive me and have mercy on me.

Thanksgiving:

Thank you, God for your promise that when I come to you, you will have compassion on me and will abundantly pardon me. I am grateful that you are in control and I am not and that your word will accomplish your purpose.

Supplication:

Please help me trust your higher thoughts and ways for they lead to accomplishments in your plan, success as you define it. I want to claim your promises because all of your words are true and filled with eternal life. Protect my family, friends and me from evil and temptation that surrounds us daily and tries to separate us from your callings. Let us always choose you!

Use these verses and ACTS to write your own personal prayer in your journal.
