ACTS: A Way to Pray
Genesis 1:1-3
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light
Adoration:
Dear Heavenly Father, What a Mighty Creator you are! You are the origin of the universe who called all things into being by your word. You brought “something from nothing”, order into what was “without form”, and light out of darkness. Your works are powerful, miraculous and mighty!
Confession:
I confess that I tend to forget these abilities, and that you can do things beyond my imagination in my own life. You were the Creator at the beginning of time and you are still the Creator today. I ask for forgiveness for the times that I take your creations for granted and don’t stand in awe of your power and might.
Thanksgiving:
Thank you, God, for the orderly and beautiful work you have done in creations since the beginning of time. I am grateful that you have wonderfully made your children as image bearers and place us in an environment where you need us most. I am also grateful for your words in Genesis that root me in the eternal purpose to life and for the hope that lives in my heart.
Supplication:
I ask you to help me acknowledge and meditate on your attributes all day so that I grow deeper in my faith and relationship with you. I want to honor you and glorify your name by being the light you call me to be. Will you please use me to shine your light in darkness so that others will see your love for them? I ask that you direct my paths and that I follow them; therefore, I would do nothing more or nothing less than you desire. Let the Holy Spirit overflow through me as an image bearer that you created!
I pray this all in the name of Jesus. Amen.
