“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Please read pages 217 through 222 in your book. Respond, read, and reflect before going on.
Ladies, I can’t even tell you how happy I am to reach a day like today. We’ve spent so much time in our own personal stories. We’ve analyzed from many different angles. Believe me.... I trust it has been worthwhile and holy work.
But, there comes a time when the analyzing has to stop and we have to DO SOMETHING!
When I was a senior in high school, my mom gave me a book called, Windows to Heaven: “When Children See Life in Death.” It was written by a pediatric oncologist. She was an atheist, but she wrote about different children who died in her presence. Their stories of what they saw in their rooms at the time of death caused her to believe. Each of these children saw Jesus at the moment of death. It was life changing for the doctor. The book was life changing for me!
I immediately decided that God was calling me to be a counselor to terminally ill children. When I got to MS College, I visited a local hospital and found out I could volunteer in the playroom of the pediatric cancer floor. Once a week, I’d go and play games with little kids who rolled their IVs in for play time.
Now, It was a great experience. But, here’s the thing, I just wasn’t made for hospitals. I literally had to will myself not to vomit when I accidentally caught a glimpse of the IV entry point. I also had an actual stomach response to all sorts of smells. I don’t know how long it took me to realize that the call was amazing... it just wasn’t for me.
I didn’t lose a thing, though, in the doing. It was a positive experience. I gained some compassion and empathy. Most importantly, I learned that my calling wouldn’t include hospitals... or needles.... or blood.
Maybe you’ll read today’s section and have something rise up in you. There may be something you need to DO. Just think, it doesn’t have to turn in to your calling. It may actually be the opposite. But, it’s part of the process.
I’m praying for you! Let’s untangle the dreams, ladies. Let’s take some action steps toward purpose today.
By the way, I love being on this journey with you!
Jesus, You created our dreams in us, and You will uncover them. I’m asking that the threads of these 30+ days will come together in direction and action today. Amen.
