Made For This: “A Pixel In The Picture”
I have come down from Heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me- John 6:38
Please read all of Day 18 from “Made For This” (pages 120-125).
Leading into today’s reading I wanted to start with the different sections of our book. Our book is broken down into four parts:
Part 1: The Prayer
Part 2: The Call
Part 3: The Threads
Part 4: The Future
We are now getting into Part 3 which really gives me a visual of getting all kinds of threads ready for a project with the ultimate goal of completing the project: YOURSELF! We are only on Day 18, but if you will look at all the days in Part 3 you will begin to see the “Big Picture!”
Jeannie Allen gives so many good days in Part 3 that make you feel like each thread is important such as, “The Process,” “The Project,” “Threads of Gifts,” “Threads of People,” and “The Tailor.” Just as a tailor works their magic crafting and creating a one of a kind design Jeannie is telling us to look at our life like individual threads, and those threads bind together to make up our whole being!
Today’s lesson:
Over the past several months we have all used technology more than ever. I am the first to admit I am all about technology! I love using my phone for just about everything from Netflix to reading on my Kindle app and those hilarious Snapchat filters that make me laugh! I love Facetime and videos, but most of all I LOVE taking pictures: I love taking pictures of places I visit. I love posting videos of concerts I go to. Most of all, I love taking pictures of my family and people I love. But as I sit here and type I immediately think of how my mind works as I do those things. I always think, “I wonder if the lighting is going to be good,” “Maybe I should use portrait mode.....that always makes for a great picture,” “Let me make sure I get them singing THE best song.” And then it hits me: I spend most of my time worrying about getting my “perfect pixels!”
I spend most of my time worrying about too many pixels when I should focus on just one pixel.......myself.....and how God created me for a specific purpose. We were all created for a unique and special purpose to be designed to use our different gifts to move as ONE. In the end isn’t our ultimate display to work together and show others about God and all that he has done for us?
For today’s lesson, Jeannie makes a simple and easy reference to a TV. She goes on to say that millions of pixels make up the image you see on a TV, but each tiny pixel plays such an important part to help work together to make the WHOLE PICTURE.
Jeannie simply puts today’s lesson as this: “Every one of our unique callings will display God to our world.” “No matter how magnificent your pixel here on Earth, remember we will be only one brief little light unless we are part of the bigger thing we were made for.”
For me I have to practice daily on being obedient to God and putting my faith in trust in him. Doubt and fear constantly creep in, and in our world today there are so many fears. Why is this difficult for me? Because I need to focus more on how my one pixel helps to make a tiny part of his BIG PICTURE for us! Can you imagine how big, brilliant and beautiful that screen will be in Heaven?!?!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray today that my spirit may be yielded to You completely and that throughout the day my focus will remain on You. It is because of you I have the strength I need to face the day, no matter what difficulties or problems may arise. Help me to do your will and to be shown clearly the way that You would have me go. Give me a correct focus on the direction that You would have me take, and help me to plainly see what You have planned for my life. Amen.
I would also encourage you to take additional time to read and reflect on pages 124-125. I plan to fill in scriptures that fit each topic so that I can refer back to them when I need them most.
